Gordon Ramsay vs The Special

Shape Hospitality was asked to write a guest blog about the daily special for the very elite site: Modern Restaurant Management.

The topic in question was about a recent comment by Michelin Star Chef Gordon Ramsay. He was quoted saying “Don’t order the special.” The blog attempts to defend the daily special and offers reasons why it should be ordered.

Synopsis of the Special

The blog starts with Ramsay’s quote and is backed by another prominent chef and critic; Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain adds to the mix: “never order the seafood special on Mondays.”

The blog addresses the concerns of these chefs and helps the reader determine that the special should, in fact, be ordered.

Along with back-of-house ideas, marketing strategy and new menu add-ons, there are a host of reasons that a restaurant offers them. They are not all bad reasons.

The blog post offers eight reasons you should be adventurous, spontaneous and daring and order that special right away!

Not only does the blog cover the issue from the side of the guest, but also the side of the restaurant. The reasons given also correlate to why the restaurant use them and why it is a good idea.

Why is it a good idea?

You will have to read the guest blog to find out. It will be worth your time, I promise. Everything from the tourist to the local that needs a quick change for their favorite venue. It is all included.

Head over to modernresaurantmanagement.com to see the blog live and read it for yourself.

Once you are done feel free to come back and tell me what you think about the post. Shape Hospitality would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.
